I played on a bill with them and my pal CFTPA when I lived in Portland.
Rostam came up to me after I played, complimented my performance and told me I was a good musician. When I later found out he is the main producing force behind VW, his words held even more weight and it’s something I will always remember as well as one of the many assurances I have that leaving my career in movies to pursue other creative endeavors was not a mistake.
Now Vampire Weekend are huge stars and I don’t have a job. er. haha.
At the show, the guy I was dating said :
“They are less Vampire Weekend and more Weekend at Bernie’s.”
totally. and their music is solid.
