litterbox trick

Earlier this year, a woman I was chatting with at Target told me of this great litterbox idea.

•66 gallon storage bin ($5-8 at Target)
•box cutter + heavy duty scissors
•packing or utility tape to cover cut edges
= a huge, easy to clean litterbox that cats love

Yesterday, my mom’s new adopted cat took to it instantly
after refusing to properly use traditional litter boxes for a week.
So, I felt it was time to put this litterbox on the internet for others to find.

This self-made box is cheap, easy to clean,
your cat can see what’s going on outside
and you can see how dirty it is without opening.
Win!
We cut just one rectangle on the long side for my mom’s cat.
The version my two cats have been using has a top and front hole.

Over the years, I’ve learned cats’ ‘box issues can include :
•size of box
•fear of being vulnerable inside a closed box while they are taking care of business
•type of litter
•surface box is on (tile, wood, concrete, etc)
•height of entry (esp. for older animals)
•cleanliness of box

This affordable solution takes care of a few of those.

Good luck with your little beast!
