I’m going to end 2011 at Those Tricks with a song that has gotten many listens from me this year.
This is a style blog appropriate tune because Margiela and Gucci get a shout (ha).
The most creative production these days comes out of pop-hop,
i.e. rap/hip-hop genre songs which are accessible to the masses.
I love to hate Kanye.
But the real deal is…he’s a musical force.
+ His production
+ Jay Z’s streets-to-the-boardroom, soymilksilky-smooth vocal delivery
+ a finishing, sexy, wicked industrial drop (featuring synth choir for god’s sake!!)
= tour de force.
For those who might lean towards criticizing the lyrics/subject matter, take it as social study commentary
by two black dudes living the high life doing cool shit they love.
Cause that’s where the lucky mo-fu’s are.
This song tells their tale with touches of comedy in both the lyrics and production.
“We’re going to skate to one song and one song only.”
Put on headphones for maximum effect when the drop hits.
It makes me giggle and go flush every time.
Sick.
See ya next year!
