vintage baracuta by van heusen flannel / $2

Baracuta Van Heusen vintage flannel

Grabbed this flannel at the Ft Worth Thrift Town for 2 bucks.
The story goes…Baracuta made/makes loved mens jackets in England. Such as this swish thing.
At some point the company licensed their name to Van Heusen to make merch for ‘merica.
This flannel is an example of that licensing.

The cotton is excellent quality, but cost corners were cut with fabric pattern layout, buttons, etc.
Still - with the colors, fit and fabric I’m sold at $2.

wrinkly flannel shirt pocket

I forgot how flannel edges can get caddywhompus & kinky from a wash.
But man! Ironing such a casual, comfy shirt feels contradictory.
When I brought up the problem in presence of my friend Whitney this eve,
she solved it by explaining she uses a flat iron to tame rogue edges.
Genius!
I tried it out and BINGO.
Smoothed down the pockets, collar and a few spots around the buttons.
No “after” pic for ya, so you’ll just have to trust me on this one.
A quick fix you can do while wearing the shirt.
