vintage outback red limited dress / $20

Stephanie Casey in Dallas on her style blog

The dress from the last Buffalo shop!
Late 80s / early 90’s vintage as Sandra informed me on Facebook.

I deboned the top.
It had three plastic rods that didn’t offer much in the way of bodice shape-keeping
and scrunched up & pinched me when I sat down.
Ripped those suckers out with a seam ripper.
They were sewn in, so took a minute, but once I figured out where they were stitched, it was quick.

thrifted photoshoot / $70-ish

image

Produced & Styled a fine art fashion shoot over the weekend.
(The images will be morphed and altered for the project).
Super fun to source the ladies’ clothes via thrift.
I bought tons of options, for 3 ladies, for a total of about $70.

The photographer wanted big poofy necks - sorta victorian, slightly gothic.
He and I picked out lots of vintage-looking lace tablecloths and curtains, together, at a thrift.
Then I thrifted the rest of the clothes with the fabrics we’d already purchased in mind.

I got to cast people I was excited to work with.
The two ladies above are both actresses.
And the stylin’ and profilin’ chica below I used to work with at Neiman’s.
Everyone did such an awesome job.

Man!
I wish I could do this type of thrift-sourced styling a whole lot more!
Kinda dreamy enjoyment for me.

H&M self zipping off-black tee / $5

image

This top is from the live shop at Buffalo Exchange in Long Beach
back in good old December.
It was half off, so $5 instead of $10.

image

Really comfy, a medium weight and a great off-black color.
Wore it unzipped this 75 degree January day.

image

image

Its special talent is the thing can zip into itself!
There are pics of it like that on the Those Tricks FB page if you scroll down quite a bit.

Weeeeeeeeeeee

*The “messed up” photos are GLITCHED.
Loving glitching stuff up right now.
Reminiscent of VHS video gone bad.
Here is next level glitch GIF-ing called Datamosh.

final touch rayon tee / $10.50

A Dallas Buffalo Exchange purchase.
I think it’s a small designer they buy.
No trace of “Final Touch” online.
Basically just a tee, but the fabric fancies it up a bit.

billy reid coat / $180

I know.
That’s a lot for me.
But retail was $800.
I bought this sophisticated coat, new, at the Dallas Billy Reid warehouse sale last year.
Finally cold enough to break it out!

Its special feature is a strip of leather hidden under the collar.

Which I, of course, wear popped!

This is the kind of coat that will last me years with its classic design
and sturdy, high-quality fabric and construction.

Ann Taylor sweater / $12

Actually, I can’t remember if it was $10 or $12,
but a good deal from my last Half of Half visit.

02 ann taylor

Brand new, no damage.
Feels like cashmere but is wool, rayon & nylon.
This combo doesn’t itch me, but is very warm.
YES.
Because I don’t have many sweaters I like.

Tying the tie funk-ily so it isn’t boring.

It’s meant to be tied right in front.

But that’s not so unique.
Making it my own and such.

04 scrunch boots

A good grey piece for my winter wardrobe, for sure.

05 sitting hmmm

Love this photo.
A lot of people like to hate on the self-photography the internet has widely inflicted upon us.
But, to me, it’s just an evolution of humans documenting themselves.
We’ve been doing it since cave drawings.

vintage nubby dress / $10

Remember the nubby dress from the live Buffalo Dallas shop?
Here it is in action.
It’s very lightweight, but quite warm.
Maybe the nubs have some wool in them.
