In elementary school in Texas, they had us learn Texan songs like “Yellow Rose of Texas”, “The eyes of Texas are upon you” and “Deep in the Heart of Texas.”
And we studied the alamo and learned the cotton eyed joe.

They even dropped it from their logo a year and a half ago.
1981.
In the beginning, they played long, full-length videos with minimal commentary.
During my 80s youth, there were more DJ, or VJ as it were, personalities.
By the time I was in high school, it was lots of grinding at spring breaks and other party situations.

one last look
The last of the California dreams for ya.
I took all casual clothes, except for these heels and the belt.
This night my brother and I went out to dinner, so gussied it up a tad.

My brother lives south of there in Long Beach - a completely different world.

This plus-sized, 80s Rita Angelo dress came to me half price for $4 big ones.
At size 18, it was much too large for me, but I couldn’t leave behind these sleeves.
I mean, seriously.
So, I New Dress A Day-ed it!
Took in about 4 inches from each side and brought the hem up.
Which left me with more of a fit & wonderfully large, fluttery sleeves.
