bark park central
Sometimes a dog needs to run. With other dogs. But it’s up to each dog’s human to make that happen. At my local dog park, a bunch of artists added some encouragement with a different mural on each post. I love it. Don’t think House notices the art, too busy sniffing butts and such. Wearing thrifted vintage Herman Marcus dress, thrifted vintage...

romance
I always sweep romantically through my day in this thrifted Robert Rodriquez skirt. Pleated organza. Soft silk cummerbund waist. Even the lining is silk. A beautiful garment. ♥

the eyes of texas
In elementary school in Texas, they had us learn Texan songs like “Yellow Rose of Texas”, “The eyes of Texas are upon you” and “Deep in the Heart of Texas.” And we studied the alamo and learned the cotton eyed joe. I have nothing further to add. Just ponder that this weekend. The eyes of Texas are upon you All the live long days The eyes of Texas...

the mtv
It’s old news that MTV is no longer Music Television. They even dropped it from their logo a year and a half ago. 1981. In the beginning, they played long, full-length videos with minimal commentary. During my 80s youth, there were more DJ, or VJ as it were, personalities. By the time I was in high school, it was lots of grinding at spring breaks and other party situations. Music...

kate's boat skirt!
I’ve never really been on a sailboat or the like, but I think I’m more interested in the rum cocktails, nautical attire and by-the-sea aspect of boating than I am in the actuality of riding on a boat. However. Tooooootally down to float on a boat. Another My Trick Your Trick trade. I sent Kate a vintage blouse she chose. Check it out today on her blog : With Little Lights...

90s black and white knit dress
How’s that for a vague title? Picked up this hottie last weekend in Long Beach at the Buff. $9 vintage dress. STASH! Reminds me of high school. I’m probably older than you - class of 1994. Style inspirations were Heathers, Pump Up the Volume, Reality Bites and Total Recall (just kidding, it was Twin Peaks. Though I did see Total Recall lots - I think one of my brothers was...

one last look
The last of the California dreams for ya. I took all casual clothes, except for these heels and the belt. This night my brother and I went out to dinner, so gussied it up a tad. Ooooo a 100% resale outfit. Heels and vintage dress thrifted, fave belt from Buffalo Exchange/Sherman Oaks. Next week I’ll toss you a cool dress I got at Buffalo/LBC during this visit. Can I go back this...

it's like they knew
Knew just what my ideal summer tank top would be. And then manufactured it. I didn’t even try it on. Neon yellowwithahintofgreen and grey striped, softy soft cotton Delia’s tank purchased at Buffalo Exchange/Long Beach for $12. I wore it for 3 days straight. Threeee Daaaays Straaaaight. (don’t worry - one washing in the middle)

we got it on lock
The 7 years I lived in L.A. NEVER did me right like this. My brother lives south of there in Long Beach - a completely different world. Super chill. Gorgeous. Calm. Peaceful. I didn’t want to leave. I’m going to try and work out living there for a few years. The romper I bought at H&M in Athens was clearly made for bicycling in 70 degree, sunny weather. Doesn’t it...

off i go
I always pull out this vintage sweater skirt when cleaning out my closet. And it always talks its way back in. I’m off to Long Beach this afternoon for a break from the heat and more importantly to hang out with my bro. Movement of the wind, back wheels spin Pop in a cassette and push play See ya sometime next week. Have a great weekend!

nice limbo you have here
We have a winner. MAN I love this dress. The other purchase from Lula B’s last weekend. Also about $20. It glimmers so! Throwing you pictures in all kinds of light so you can enjoy the fabric shining away like I did today. …and then the storm blew in (I wish!) Belt and Bruno Magli heels both thrifted.

ships of the desert
You might want to concern yourself with the cute vegan Matt & Nat bag. Or the steppin’ out Michael Kors heels. Possibly even the Buffalo Exchange pants. But all you really need to take from this post are the hundreds of tiny camels. Vintage Lord Jeff mens shirt from Lula B’s in Deep Ellum for $18. Worn out and about Saturday night to the Hot As Hell opening at The...

shine on
This is the second blog appearance for this sparkly Cynthia Vincent jacket. Ever been to the Gilroy Garlic Festival? I wouldn’t mind. Tons of garlic themed foods and stuff. Tasty. Picked up this vintage tank (time worn and battered) at Buffalo Exchange PDX. Lured to the Twelfth Street shiner at Clotheshorse Anonymous in Dallas. 100% silk. Except for the sequins, of course. A...

fly with me
This plus-sized, 80s Rita Angelo dress came to me half price for $4 big ones. At size 18, it was much too large for me, but I couldn’t leave behind these sleeves. I mean, seriously. So, I New Dress A Day-ed it! Took in about 4 inches from each side and brought the hem up. Which left me with more of a fit & wonderfully large, fluttery sleeves. Texas Monthly, 1981 aw yeah.
