you say....stay
Check out my new yoga move : Psych!
It’s a picture on its side.
But some of my super badass yoga teachers can actually do that.
Stepping out in my “Stay” dress again, already.
Just haaaaad to wear this purple 80s belt I thrifted for $2.99.
And a nice time to talk about this purse I’ve been carrying a lot lately!
A great day-to-evening bag thrifted for $5....

SFW part deux
There’s just something about a tweed skirt with a thrifted short sleeve vintage sweater.
Such a cute work combo to me.
Has a classic but fun and sexy thing going, too.
I recently thrifted the skirt for $3.99.
It’s lined with polyester that feels like the softest of silks.
The top is from a thrift in Long Beach, CA ($2) and heels are from Buffalo/LBC ($14).
When I showed the...

room with a 360˚ view
Last friday evening my pal Lauren and I went to Reunion Tower for a little happy hour action.
Reunion Tower is a tall building with a ball at the top which rotates.
Over an hour, you take in a 360 degree view of the Dallas area.
The Wolfgang Puck restaurant at the top, Five Sixty, has excellent asian food & sushi.
Happy Hour offerings include several small bite and wine choices for...

funny face (minus the 20 inch waist)
When I threw on this all black ensemble and caught myself in the mirror,
I thought of the famous shots of Audrey Hepburn…….hmmm what are those from?
I’ve never been an Audrey-file, so had to look it up. Funny Face!
Imma add it to my Netflix list.
Doesn’t Jane Aldridge look just like her?
I grabbed the black sweater at a thrift for $1.98.
The embroidery says...

oopsie
I made the mistake of browsing the Modcloth dresses. Be still my aching heart!
I am in no place to be dropping $4-500 on a pile of dresses,
but, if…say…there is an anonymous dress benefactor out there, I’d like :
this and this
oh and these two
and ohhhhhhh
sigh. size 6 or M, please.
A lady can dream, can’t she?!

cary me away
Old Navy dress, can ya believe it?
From Buffalo Exchange/Dallas, I imagine in the $10 range.
For once, I wore the matching belt/tie! crazytown.
More interesting are the absolutely gorgeou-ioso accompanying photos.
They are by the young, immensely talented, Swedish Cary W.
Her work is so up my alley.
Upon finding her blog, I pored over all pages.
She’s a doll and just got into...

Kenar sweater thrifted for $9.99.
It appears Kenar folded in 1998.
This top still had a tag on it…so, it’s 12 or more years old?
The pattern is somewhat obnoxious, but the fabric is soooooo soft.
Yellow is not the best color for my skin tone,
but I find it hard to resist!
Google has informed me Linda Evangelista was the face of Kenar.
Remember when supermodels were...

skins
I’ve recently watched the first two seasons of a very good UK show : SKINS.
It’s a teen soap opera, but with style and the the the realness.
The kids do drugs, tempt fate, have shitty parents,
question everything, love dangerously
and don’t know what the fuck they are doing.
How refreshing!
haha
Each episode is more or less centered on a character as the story...

rain day a-ok
Love a rainy day to pop on my rain hat! 100% resale outfit.
Shirt + belt + jeans : Buffalo Exchange Hat + Shoes : Thrift
Total cost approx : $45
What’s funny is that seems really high,
in comparison to some of the outfits I’ve posted recently.
Especially because it is so casual.
But with dresses, it’s usually just 1 item instead of 5.
anyhoo. let it rain!...

a contender
Sunday is a good day to display this “next favorite tee” contender.
Thrifted for $1.99,
I believe the tee brand may be an Indian version of Hanes or Fruit of the Loom?
What are its winning attributes, you ask?
Well, its unusual rust color, for one.
Also, this tee’s sleeves are cut longer-than-the-average-tee length.
And I have a feeling it will wear similar to my actual...

i thought what I felt was simple
This vintage dress is soooo Lisa Loeb Stay.
Thrifted for $7.99,
its brocade fabric, lovely neckline, perfect length and early 90’s-ness drew me right in. Stay was a monster hit song from Ben Stiller’s directorial debut, Reality Bites.
Though I want it to be a good film, it has some issues.
Several years after the release of this movie, I ended up working with the editor on a...

And last week, I did!! $2.99
pink! bendy!
Definitely NOT modern green-friendly, these PVC plastic shoes take me back to 3rd grade.
Wearing lots of plastic accessories in neon colors and jamming to Cyndi Lauper.
This hit feminist anthem, disguised as a party song, themed those years.
Robert Hazard wrote Girls Just...

domination's the name of the game
Broke out the hemp dress
again.
This time I took it monochrome. (except for the shoes…always on the lookout for perfect grey heels…no luck yet)
Doubled up on the belts for a bit of a bondage-type accessory feel. We call it master and servant

Aldi's arrival
The area I live in Dallas has a major void.
No close grocery!
So, I was pleased to see a new store called Aldi opening up near by.
They had a preview this morning with samples and an introduction.
I went and checked it out.
The bulk of what they offer is big brand knock-offs of all your favorite sugar-y cereals, packaged box food, potato chips, canned veggies and sauces and frozen food. ...

your wooby's looking bad, bud
Everyone has a favorite tee, right? This is mine.
I’ve had it for years and no other t-shirt has come close to its majesty.
Regular tee sleeves, but a trimmed neck that is a freakin’ curved “V.”
Softest, naturally worn out cotton.
I’ve sewn up several tiny holes on this thing. True Love.
Remember in Mr. Mom when the dad makes a deal with his son
to get rid of...

I found this wonderfully tailored, off-white dress for $4.99,
buuuuut it’s color tag was half off, so it cost me $2.50!
Reminds me of an old fashioned nurse dress
and is truly a blank canvas to be styled in myriad ways.
Just playing with belts and shoes and hair.
Those vintage YSL’s are super neat, yah?
I have attempted to research the brand,
but the only possibility I came...

boys who like girls
B.o.B feat. Bruno Mars “Nothin On You” from ethandirector on Vimeo.
How cute are these boys?
And this song?
And the video?
very. The director explains the video’s creation process : “Here’s How We Did It: We shot the video on a white sound stage. I edited it on Final Cut Pro. Then we printed out over 3,000 frames onto paper. Then every frame was hand torn...

lovin' blogs
Do you guys know about :
I just found out about it a few days ago and it’s revolutionized my blog surfing.
You make a profile and put in the addresses of your favorite blogs.
Then Bloglovin feeds you an at-a-glance, clickable list when the blogs have updates.
Much easier than checking all your favorite blogs one-by-one to see if there is a new post.
very nice.

oooooh a flowy spring/summer dress
Thrifted in Long Beach, CA, this flirty GAP number cost me $6.
It even has pockets. woo.
Another 100% resale outfit! Shoes from Buffalo/LBC, Moth cardigan from Buffalo/somewhere, and my $1 necklace.
The cardigan dresses it down for day, but can easily shift for night.
I’m imagining a garden party with lanterns and random performers floating around...

cleaning out the closet
Last week, I spent a day packing up my winter stuff and bringing out the spring/summer.
Which led me to reorganize and clean out my entire closet.
My missing ipod shuffle and swim goggles appeared. yay.
Come on in to my luxuriously large loft closet :
To the left.
jackets, pants, dresses & dresser
To the right.
dresses, skirts, tops & storage
Half the closet was...

magical!
To celebrate the Bunny rising to bring us chocolates and corn syrup-y treats on this special day, I am wearing a festive Salwar Kameez :
I bought it as a complete set at Goodwill for just $4 (its color tag was 1/2 off!).
The pajama-like pants are great if you wanna meditate
or, say, kick up into a spontaneous headstand.
But for the family dinner I’m attending this evening, I...

mining for treasure
Remember when I found a vintage Bottega Veneta icon purse for $5.99 last year?
Apparently the Bottega gods have their sights set on me.
While thrifting in Arlington recently, I picked up this red, patent bag, looked it over and my heart started to race.
The price tag?
I took it WITH me into the dressing room while trying on clothes.
Then I went to the Bottega store at a fancy mall and...

to infinity and beyond
Turns out this convertible infinity scarf is pretty great!
I wore it yesterday while computer-ing in a coffee shop and every time the AC kicked in, just pulled it down around my shoulders.
Ditto at the wonderful art talk by Sandow Birk I attended last night at the MAC.
nice!

Best school pictures ever.
That little guy with the bunny - ohhhhh!!!
I stumbled upon Stomping Ground in the blogosphere and was touched by the childhood spirit and individuality captured in their shots.
The kids are encouraged to bring in favorite toys and costumes on picture day.
And without mom and dad hovering (as they would be in other non-school picture portrait settings) they are free...
