hemp me up before you go go
How lovely is this hemp & silk dress by Stewart + Brown?
answer : quite!
so soft and supple.
Purchased at Buffalo Exchange/Dallas.
Still had all tags on it…$232 to $94 to $24.50 at Buffalo.
Threw on a $1.98 thrifted belt for a little 80s redux flair (and to match my lipstick!).
Wore it this evening to an event at The Limited I signed up for through a Shecky’s email....

grey for sun
I spent this sunny Sunday morning writing a chapter of :
while wearing this comfy grey outfit :
Both top and bottom are recent purchases.
The a.n.a. jeans were thrifted for $3.99 and are a perfect fit with a bit of stretch.
Top is LUX and was purchased at Buffalo Exchange/Dallas for $9.
It bugs me when a pattern is only on the front of something,
this tank clearly does not have...

tube top season is back + go america!
Donned for today’s gorgeous 75 degree and sunny weather, this top/dress cost me $14 at Buffalo Exchange/Dallas.
Fab fabric :
Today this outfit and I attended a Dallas meeting of The Coffee Party.
Assuming it was a liberal response to tea baggers, I have learned over the past few days it is actually a non-partisan movement that encourages civility, rationality and adult behavior...

hendricks martini...dirty, please
A chill was in the air this morning.
I took it as a sign to wear this wool, plaid dress from Banana Republic,
which I bought used at a consignment shop in North Dallas.
And everybody’s favorite - cuban heel hose :
I just love this dress.
Besides being a perfect cut for me and having pockets,
it has special little details like a tiny gather on the sleeves :
aw.

spring flowers
Beautiful, sunny day!
Breaking in the spring weather with this cute dress I got at Buffalo Exchange/Houston.
I can’t remember exactly, but it cost around $10.
There is some great pleating at the neck and waist (sorry for no pic).
The belt is a $1 thrift and the shoes and bag are Buffalo/Dallas and thrifted. 100% resale!
happy spring.

yes, you're fat and yes, it's your fault
Last night, on Hulu, I watched Jamie Oliver’s new show : FOOD REVOLUTION
He is trying to spread the word about eating healthier, less processed, less fatty, less greasy, less void-of-nutrients food.
WHICH AMERICA DESPERATELY NEEDS.
He starts off at a public elementary school which feeds pizza for breakfast and “chicken” nuggets with dried-pellet-mixed-with-water...

pret-a-port-heeeeeey
When I checked my email this morning, there was ol’ Rue La La casually offering up a Valentino Boutique.
A girl’s gotta look!
This popped up on my screen :
Uh Oh. Spending $250 on a pair of pants is not something I would normally consider. But.
As I launch into a new phase of life and career,
a more sophisticated wardrobe is taking over my closet.
For the last many months...

snow bunny
Last night, Dallas got some very unseasonable snow. I mean, last week it was 70 degrees and tomorrow it will be 70 again!
But, Dallas is known for hodgepodge weather and a little last gasp of winter was fun.
Neighbors of my dad made an appropriate snow creature, which cracked me up :
Snow Bunny!
haha.
Love the flamingo and spring flower flourishes.

Yesterday, I came across this photo of Beth Ditto clothed in continuous pattern,
which inspired me to go entirely polka dot today!
I got the dress for $1.99 at a thrift store in Long Beach, CA.
The neckline definitely called for hair UP.
Wanna dance? (get it…polka…har har)

I have been looking forward to writing this particular post.
My buddy, Lydia, introduced me to the New Dress A Day blog a few months ago.
Marisa is outfitting herself, daily, on a budget of $365 for 365 days!
Mainly with dollar thrifting and mad alterations by, chopping :

or taking it in everywhere :
Her project is an inspiration!

one hundred pennies
…got me this vintage-y looking top :
Thrifted, natch.
We’re going a little fuzzy with the photo today, as I’m feeling a little fuzzy after a bout of food poisoning over the weekend.
This evening I came out of my 48-hr sprite and saltine haze and went to Dixie House for some mashed potatoes and gravy.
Apparently, my body was craving fat, in gravy form, after the...

going once, going twice
The celeb auction I have been working on begins TODAY!
Some great new contributors have been added over the past week including Kings of Leon, Feist, The Black Keys, Neil Gaiman and the cast of Parks and Recreation.
All proceeds go to Paul Haggis’s Haiti foundation, whose overhead is covered,
so 100% of proceeds go directly to Haiti.
About a year ago, Mr. Haggis met a priest in...

Works by Caitlin Shearer
I came across her work last year in a post over at the Modcloth Blog.
I bought a print from her called Mute Pen :
It flew over all the way from Australia.
You can buy prints of her work for $5-$20 at her etsy shop.
So excited to see this on her blog today :
She made the custom print for designer Karla Špetić’s AW10 collection.
Pretty cool,...

Thrifted for $5.99, in like new condition.
I wore it yesterday in the rain and again today, even though there was no rain! whoa.
Also a good time to show off these Lela Rose heels on muh feet.
Took them out on the town for the first time Tuesday on a (really great!) date.

R.I.P. Corey #1
Corey Haim died today at the age of 38.
The guy had addiction issues from the time he hit Hollywood as a young teen.
I was madly in love with him as a young girl.
His pictures torn from from Teen Bop covered my bedroom door.
My brother and I sometimes marathon our favorite Corey (Haim)-Corey (Feldman) movies.
Which include License to Drive, Dream a Little Dream and The Lost Boys.
R.I.P....

cruel girl
Today’s work-at-home outfit showcases both the Buffalo (David Bitton, not Exchange) jeans I just got from Rue La La and a $2.99 thrifted button down.
Rue La La is a online shop that gets clothes, shoes, housewares, wine, vacations and all sorts of other designer things and offers them at a deep discount in 48-hr boutiques. They send a daily email with that day’s boutiques. For...

how now brown cow
Last week my sweater-y brown tunic came out of the wash with a nice not nice hole in it.
Luckily, I came across this replacement at Thrift Town for $3.99.
I just learned that Thrift Town gets their clothes from ARC.
Ya know that card in the mail to leave clothes out on a certain day for them to grab?
Thrift Town buys from them in bulk, sifts through and sells the good stuff in their stores....

comfort in seafoam
Since it is coming up very soon, I will be spending the next week in front of my computer and on the phone doing publicity and various other odds and ends for CRAFTS FOR A CAUSE.
Super fun.
Am dressing for stay-at-home comfort and focus, so today am plopped in front of the computer wearing these uber-comfy seafoam green (love) Gap chinos I thrifted for $2.99.
What a color!

FUG-tastic
Over the weekend in the the links round-up at Go Fug Yourself,
they were questioning whether dresses over pants is ok.
Most of the comments were like - “yuck!” “awful! “no!” I totally disagree.
So, this is for you, fuggers.
Why should this frock I thrifted for $4.98 in Austin on Friday have to wait for spring? BTW this entire outfit cost less than $25.
Belt =...
