new use for old sweatshirt
I got this top at Buffalo Exchange yesterday ($8).
great idea.
Casual, warm, comfy, plain sweatshirt turned into something cute.
I cut the neckline a little deeper, but otherwise it’s as I got it.
Remember my old skool sweat seat?
I would never have worn the shirt of the set, but am definitely going to modify to this style.
Probably will do 3/4 sleeves and keep the original cuff....

Thrift Deals...not just for ladies!
And speaking of Ben, when he was in town over the holiday, we hit up a few thrift stores.
He found these comfy Kenneth Cole loafers. ($13…the toes look a bit dirty in this pic, but the shoes were in great shape when he got them a few days prior…prob a snowy xmas eve trek in between)
And he found a great zip-up cardigan for a few dollars.
Also, coincidentally, Kenneth Cole.
Ben...

a modern tragedy
Three hours ago I DROPPED MY PHONE IN WATER.
Wow.
It’s fried and I lost all my contacts.
FOREVER!!!
Has this ever happened to you?!
Major drag.
I get a free new phone upgrade in April, so instead of spending $400 or changing to a different carrier, I bought a contraband used phone from the Verizon guy (off the books oy), and now have to learn how to use it (why is texting so...

Road Trip Bag
Today a couple of friends left on a road trip.
In the spirit of LYMI, I made them a little bag of stuff to take.
I have driven all over the country, so know the kinds of things one appreciates on a road trip.
Entertainment. Snacks. Fun Stuff. CDs with stand-up comedy* and music
veggie stix**
truffles (in recycled sour cream container wrapped in stickers) scavenger hunt
change for East...

I zhu You zhu We all zhu for Zhu Zhu
My step-mother gave me one of the *hot* christmas toys of the season.
Nugget, a ZHU ZHU pet.
My zhu zhu enjoys bumping into things, scaring my cat and contemplating existence.
I looked up what this toy craze was all about and feedback seems 50/50. “best toy ever” to “my kid lost interest after 5 minutes”
I’ll let you be the judge :

Percival, the pleasant little alien
“Percival, the pleasant little alien”
A “goodie” on POGO. Hilarious.
I’m sorta (okay, completely!) addicted to Scrabble on POGO.
When you win you get tokens and can use them to dress up your little avatar.
Recently I was playing against a guy who happened to live near me. (a coincidence, it’s not a networking site, i.e. you can’t look people up by...

A blog I read often.
Many different types of posts everyday from several people, so lots of content.
And they have contests and such to keep it fun.

secret notes
Yesterday I found this secret note in an old wallet.
It was given to my cousin to give to me at a show in Boise, Idaho while I was on stage.
I never saw the author who disappeared by the time I got the note.
He’ll never know that I kept it and it makes me feel special every time I come across it.
Touring with Blake, that night was our first show and every night after he would joke,...

schtellas
Too cold to wear the new heels last night.
Instead I slipped on my Stella McCartney vegan boots.
Original price = $1150. I paid $300 (at a consignment shop).
Still a pile o’ dough, but I “couldn’t live without them.”
I’m not gonna lie.
These stiletto boots were NOT made for walking (long distances).
But they are just fine for milling about.
And I feel tall...

black beauties
Found on Friday : $5 Bruno Magli heels.
They were probably around $300 new.
If it doesn’t get too cold tonight, I’m definitely sporting these beauts!
I am a big fan of subtle, elegant detail.

It's All in the Details
The simplest outfit can turn extra cute with a neat-o accessory.
Check out this french horn buckle skinny belt I grabbed at a thrift yesterday for $.99! so sweet and delicate. ( this would be a cheesy “looking out the window” pose except that a HUGE bird actually flew right by the window at that exact moment, catching my attention. haha. for realz.)

old skool sweatpants
I have been looking around for a pair of sweatpants for winter lounging. I wanted a snug fit and a cuff at the ankle.
Aka the sweatpants of my youth. I guess they aren’t really made anymore.
Luckily, I came across a sweet vintage teal set at a thrift store for $2.95.
This is so 80s throwback- shouldn’t I be able to find this style at Target, etc. new?!
With the rest of the...

free food
When a guy at Buffalo Exchange mentioned this deal, it seemed too good to be true.
But it isn’t! TRECE in Dallas offers up a FREE 2-course dinner on Mondays with a reservation. Go to their site and sign up for their email list and you, too, will be in the club. mmmmmmmm.

Crystal City 1969
The play I have been working on the last month or so is opening tonight!
I did costumes with my friend Marianne (which is why I have been at thrift stores every day), did some PR and also voice coached the little girls (or tired to - kids!).
It has been a blast and I can’t wait to see it with an audience tonight.
In other news, I am starting a new “company” called : ...

resale rulz
My friend Angela does a weekly segment on her blog called “Thrifty Threads.”
Most of my wardrobe is resale or really cheap, so I’ve sent her some pics to use this year.
Including this outfit I am wearing today:
I’d estimate the whole outfit cost me about $50.
Shirt & Belt = various Buffalo Exchanges
Wool Gap Skirt = a thrift store recently
Thigh high cable socks...
