how to make a movie
(1)Director DYING to do project (2)Actors who ACT (instead of being themselves in costumes) (3)Well-written and told story* *twist ending, mystery solving, saving the girl…all NOT necessary As we watch in this touching portrayal, the girl knows what’s best for the girl. √ steph approved!

out with the new, in with the old
The furniture I initially purchased from craigslist upon renting my loft was very lofty… but not so practical for couch comfort. So, when I saw this light green, comfy couch at the Salvation Army, a trade was in order. I sold the grey chair and West Elm sectional last Sunday and my new couch came on Monday. Much more lounge-y and apt to fulfill its purpose. Brings in more color, too....

precious
Tomorrow is my birthday. The first thing I am going to do is see a matinee of PRECIOUS : Later in the day to Reunion Tower for a fancy cocktail: Has a more phallic building ever been built? Coming soon….pics of my traded out furniture. As I am hitting up every thrift store in a 30-mile radius searching for CRYSTAL CITY costumes, treasures are found. One was a couch, so a...

you're suckin' the life outta me
a tip. Because when you go to use your digital camera, the battery is all “I’m dying! I’m dying!” Take the batteries out after use & re-insert, as needed. I keep my camera, its batteries and the computer cable all in a little pouch. schweeeeeeet! Saving money on batteries “in this economy” is, of course, super awesome.

more goodies
A “mini-sampler” from HOME OF THE SAMPLER. Only $10, including shipping! Fun. A box of surprises. I have ordered once before and found the items not so useful, but was sucked in because they offered a bonus free mini-holiday sampler with a November order. This batch has some stuff I will use. The note cards and bath products, certainly. Many of the other items are fun to...

the thrift gods shone down on me
Today, I was casually thrift shopping with Marianne for the play we are costuming. She left for a photo shoot and I stayed behind to browse for myself. And holy hole !…lookie look look what I found!! A luxurious BOTTEGA VENETA bag. In near mint condition. The leather is like buttah, friends. The only flaw? A tiny pen mark on the inside : what the?! The cheapest of...

Last weekend, I served as CREATIVE PRODUCER on a commercial for a DORITOS contest. Early January the company will announce 6 finalists, then the public votes and the top 3 air during the SUPER BOWL. Our commercial is a real contender and I have high hopes for the finals. Check it out here : mmmmmm DORITOS rawwwwrrr

My cousin, emily z*, just told me about this funny blog : REGRETSY (Items found for sale on the ETSY website that are just hilarious) Some regretsy samples : too funny. *I think many may refer to her as “emily z” because recently I was somewhere she wasn’t and everyone was all “you’re emily z’s cousin?!” Sometimes I call her...

lettuce be friends
I had to share this recent revelation from my friend Angela’s Blog : MY YEAR WITHOUT SPENDING Lettuce has a way of going bad before you can get through an entire head, right? Well, Angela just posted this partial head of lettuce that is over a month old and still healthy and edible!! Simply by adding a little water at the bottom of the plastic bag where the root of the lettuce...

brief reviews of previously mentioned media
Since I know the internet cares soooooo much @ my opinons : WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE Too bad another movie was made without a script! What a shame to waste all those costumes, sets and the realistic child behavior portrayal. FAIL! THIS IS IT I cried the first 5 minutes. Michael’s dancing is liquid in motion. The production was groundbreaking. A shame the show did not go on. √...

WILD THINGS (or childhood ISN'T roses and kittens)
Friends and articles have warned against seeing WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE. “Depressing.” “Angry.” “Don’t See It!” Of course, I love depressing, dark, sad and perhaps…realistic? I think adult perceptions of childhood being a sunny field of daisies, smiles and kisses is projection, forgetfulness and wishful thinking. Adults make 100% of media...

Head Warmer & LBC heels
I am in love with this head warmer thing I bought at the Girl’s Night Out. So cute. Wraps around with two buttons at back. I doubt it’s supposed to be used as a neck warmer, but it works that way, too. I can’t wear wool (itchy! itchy! get it off!), which makes finding cute, warm winter wear difficult. This is so perfect for the Dallas winter climate. It’s...
